Final Project Plan

I love music and especially electronic music., and to be more specific with that genre, House music.  There are many different styles of house music and djs from around the world.  I will introduce you to three different djs from different parts of the world with three distinctly different styles of house music.  Now for some people all house music sounds the same to them but i will try to break down the different styles of each so that you can learn to appreciate the different unique sounds.

We the Media 2

I love how the author use Arnolds victory over Grey Davis as an example of how big media can help win an election and how important money and fundraising was for the re election of President George W. Bush.  Both these examples are clearly two campaigns that were studied by the campaign staff for President Obama.  During the 2008 elections President Obama and his team became masters of the use of media.  The media they used obviously was used differently than how Governor Schwarzenegger used media, but was just as effective if not more effective.

Dan Gilmor suggests that back in 2004 politics was approaching a tipping point.  I totally agree with this statement because in the four years between 2004 and 2008 an emergence of technology was becoming available to politicians and the voters.  Not only were blogs, vlogs, and Myspace, used but the emergence of twitter and the drastic changes in capabilities from Facebook, gave a new life to how campaigns were going to be run.

Regardless if you think President Obama should have won, it is agreeable that his campaign was a work of art.  The team in charge of the media used every source of social media networking they possibly could use and used it brilliantly.  We saw a new wave in what we should expect in the future elections not only on the national stage but even at our own local elections for mayor or governors.

Is technology going too far though?  With the advancements of technology we have to have some concern though that we are being constantly bombarded with information that we can’t always determine the source or credibility of.  We view about 10,000 different types of visual messages a day, and during election years it feels like we are view 10,000 different political messages a day which can be overwhelming.  It is great that we have discovered ways that we can in a sense touch every person in which we want to share our message with, but sometimes you can’t just shut the TV, computer, and cell phone off, because there is some other type of media outlet that is right behind that next turn waiting to give you their message.  And it doesn’t matter if you want it or not, they will give it to you.

Did You Know 2.0

October 8, 2009

The numbers about the population in China and India were not surprising but what was surprising about some of those number were that in 2006 100% of all college graduates in India spoke English.   Another predicted statistic which was shocking was that in 10 years China will be the largest English speaking nation in the world.  It isn’t shocking due to their sheer population mass but what is shock is that fact that their education and knowledge will become far more advanced than earlier predictions I have heard.  I originally heard that this was supposed to occur in the next 20 years not 10 years.  The number of years in which china will be the largest English speaking nation in the world correlates to the fact that they will also become the 2nd largest importing nation in the world right behind the US.

I have quite a few friends from different parts of the world and a couple in Hong Kong were joking by saying if i want to succeed in the business world when I’m older and want my children to succeed I better start to learn Mandarin and Cantonese.   While they joke about it I can’t help but to think they might actually be right.

“We are currently preparing students for jobs and technologies that do not exist…in order to solve problems we do not even know are problems yet”

This quote says a lot about how fast our society is changing.  Society is changing faster and faster each day, back in 2006 the video stated that technical information doubles every 2 years, but by 2010 it will double every 72 hours.  The rate at which we can exchange ideas and thoughts now is based fractions of seconds.   This brings together the idea that world is shirking because we are able to connect with people all across the world in a matter of seconds.   We can even hold visual meetings within companies and between companies with systems such as Skype, Cisco’s Telepresence, and Adobe’s Connect Sessions.

I think this is a great video for parent to really push the schools to begin teaching their kids what they really need to know for the future.

We the Media 1

In our hectic lives, critical information that needs to be relayed from P2P has to be as accurate, yet as time saving as possible. Short message services, also known as SMS, is the best possible source of sharing information with others without taking up too much time and effort. SMS has many benefits for a vast number of personal and professional uses. On the personal side of things, a family (for example) can stay connected throughout their daily lives while living in different states. They can share their experiences at work or school, make plans for a future family event, and keep in touch in emergencies all with a couple pushes on a cellular device’s keypad or touch screen. In the professional world, an SMS can be used for relaying important business updates to co-workers, informing employers about sudden changes in work schedules, and receiving up-to-the-minute information about financial and economic business matters when an individual is no where near a PC or television.

Short message services are a luxury for those who don’t have time or the resources to receive information at a specific point in time. SMS allows society to keep in touch and share information with people in either a minimal or detailed fashion. Whether an SMS is used just to say “Hi” or “Please come into work tomorrow early so we can discuss our weekly plan”, SMS is a vital source of the media that benefits us in this fast paced and constantly growing technological era.

Who is Kyle?

September 16, 2009

Who is Kyle Sato? Well am a graduating senior this year…it is has only taken the better part of this past decade. I am originally for southern California where I long to go back to. Don’t get me wrong northern California is nice but it doesn’t compare to LA, Orange County, or San Diego. Plus the Golden State Warriors don’t even come close to being on the same level as the LA Lakers. As you can tell I love sports and not just watching sports but playing sports and often gambling on sports. The LA Lakers and LA Dodgers are my favorite sports teams.

I current work for Adobe Inc. just a few blocks down the street. Which is one of the main reason why it has taken me so long to graduate from school. I have worked full time for the last 6 years which many of us at SJSU do. It is simply hard to juggle full time work and full time school…especially when I have other activities that I am dedicated to. I was active in my fraternity, Pi Alpha Phi, for many years but stepped away from all the drama and business to take care of other aspects of my life more importantly school. But just recently i decided to take on the responsibilities as the national vice president. It will be a great learning experience for me to test my true abilities as a leader.

I live my life in a disorganized chaos…yet shockingly I am efficient and productive. Many of my coworkers and friends do not understand how I can manage to keep track of things without order and organization. It is a skill I have developed over the years but I am slowly trying to work on getting more organized with my life. I am looking forward to getting to know you all more in the future.
